RB Johnson off to a good start

Joliet (Ill.) Catholic senior running back prospect Ke'von Johnson (5-foot-8, 165 pounds) got off to a good start to his senior season last Friday. Johnson ran for 248 yards and three touchdowns in leading the Hilltoppers to the 34-27 win. Johnson checks in and talks about his first game, recruiting news and more here.

"It just felt really good to be back out on the field and playing football again," Johnson said. "We just are a more confident team this season plus we have a lot more speed this season. Our line play is also a lot better this season and they played great on Friday."

Johnson also recapped his latest recruiting news.

"I've been staying in touch with the coaches from Southern Illinois,Minnesota Duluth, Minnesota State Moorhead, Wafford along with some smaller level schools like Wisconsin Platteville. Several college coaches want to see some of my early season tape and they all want me to come out and see a game. I'm planning to head down to SIU towards the end of September for a game."

Johnson is also excited for his senior season playing for first year head coach Jake Jaworski.

"Our offense is more diverse this year with Coach Jaworski and we really mix things up on offense. The offense really utilizes everyone and everyone gets involved. Coach is just a great guy and we've always have gotten along really well. Everyone is just more fired up and excited this season. "

Johnson is also in no hurry to make a college decision.

"I'm going to just play out the season and see what happens. I'll get out to visit a few schools this fall. At this stage I just want to go out, have a great senior year and help us win games."

Up next for Johnson and the Hillmen is Wheaton North (1-0).

"Wheaton North is next and they run a similar defense like Geneva's. They have a lot of speed on defense and it should be a great game."
