RB Kokosioulis is ready to roll

Park Ridge (IL) Maine South senior running back Fotis Kokosioulis (5-foot-8, 165 pounds) is gearing up for his upcoming senior season, his third straight year starting at the varsity level for the defending Class 8A state champion Hawks. Kokosioulis takkes a few minutes to talk about his upcoming season and much more here.

"Practices have been going well and everyone is working hard," Kokosioulis said. "The newer kids are stepping up and we look pretty solid this summer."

Kokosioulis admits that this coming season has definitely a different feel compared to past seasons.

"It seems like I was always one of the younger guys and this year I'm the senior. I have more younger guys looking up to me more. It could be hard at times trying to be a vocal leader when I was an underclassmen. I'm just looking to be more of a leader this summer for my team and I'm trying to help out the young guys as much as I can this season. It feels pretty cool to finally be a senior and playing with a bunch of guys I played with back in freshman football."

Kokosioulis, who has been verbally committed to NIU since the spring is still all good with the Huskies this summer.

"Everything is goos with NIU. We've been able to get commitments from a really good group of guys and I'm excited about the class. We have a group text with all the recruits and they all seem like great guys. I'm planning to get out to some of the NIU home games this season I just haven't figured out my schedule just yet."

So does Kokosioulis set any sort of personal goals heading into a season?

"The team goals are always my top goals but I do have some of my own goal. I want to score 30 plus touchdowns, run for 2,000 plus yards along with averaging 10 plus yards per carry. I also want to be named as an All State player and the Player of the Year in Illinois."
