RB Mayon has skills

Plainfield (Ill) East junior running back prospect Jake Mayon (5-foot-9, 190 pounds) put up some impressive numbers at the recent held NFTC. Mayon has also started to draw more recruiting looks this spring. Get to know this latest prospect to watch here.
"I felt I had a pretty good Nike Camp," Mayon said. "I just wanted to go and compete and see how well I stacked up agains tother kids."

Mayon, who also wrestles for the Bengals in the winter talked about his Nike Camp performance.
"Nike was a great camp and I felt good about my testing and my overall times. Once wrestling season ended I really focused on getting ready for football. It was really my first camp experience and it was good to just gets some good reps. The coaches at the Nike camp said they really liked my skills and my work ethic. It was just a good camp and gives me some confidence heading into the rest of the spring and summer."
Mayon also jus starting to draw college looks these days.
"I've been in touch with the coaches at NIU and I talk with them about once a week. I've also been getting mail and interest from Purdue, North Dakota State, Holy Cross, Syracuse and Princeton. They all want to see me camp this summer and also want me to visit the schools soon."
Mayon, who is an honors student at Plainfield East, talked about his strengths on the field and more.
I feel that I go out and play hard on every play. I'm a hard nosed runner and I also love to block. I also have pretty good hands. I'm working to improve my overall breakaway speed. I also want to run better routes and I just want to become an every down back at the college level."
Mayon also talked about his summer plans.
"I know I'm all set to camp at NIU this summer. I'm sure I'll add more camps later this spring."
