S Barnes looks ahead

Mundelein (Ill.) Carmel junior safety recruit Zaire Barnes (6-foot-2, 182 pounds) has been drawing a steady flow of college coaches into school this spring. Barnes recaps his latest recruiting and also looks ahead towards this summer.

"We've seen a lot of college coaches in school this spring," Barnes said. "I still have eight offers and alot of the bigger schools have stopped in school and they want to see me at camps this summer."

Barnes recapped his latest recruiting news.

"Lately the coaches from Penn State, Duke, Minnesota and just about every Mid American Conference schools have all been in school. All of the Big Ten schools want me to camp this summer. I want to get to some camps but my schedule in June is already packed. I have a school retreat and I'm also taking part of a leadership project and I won't be available for camps until after June 16th."

Barnes is also not in a big rush to make his college choice for now.

"My next step is to take my time for now. I want to see more schools in person this summer. I'm also going to work hard with my team and get ready for the season. I'm planning to take my time but you also always have to keep an eye on things these days."

Barnes is also excited for his upcoming senior season.

"We take just about the whole month of June off but then get going for our team camp. Everyone has been working hard and I'm focusing really hard on my team and making sure we have a great season ."

Does Barnes set any personal goals heading into the season?

Zaire Barnes has scholarship offers from Central Michigan, Toledo, NIU, Ball State, Bowling Green, Western Michigan, Wyoming and Ohio.
