S Iraci added his first offer

Chicago (IL) Brother Rice junior safety recruit Giacomo Iraci (6-foot-2, 180 pounds) was able to add his fist scholarship offer earlier this month from Illinois State University. Iraci, who was a starter for one of the state's top defenses for the Class 8A runner up Crusaders recaps his latest recruiting news here.

"Illinois State offered me a scholarship right at the beginning of the New Year," Iraci said. "The offer was definitely a surprise. I had been staying in touch with Coach (Mike) Banks at ISU reached out and invited me to a Junior Day event and they also let me know that they wanted to offer me a scholarship."

Iraci filled us in on adding his first offer from the in-state Redbirds.

"Illinois State is pretty close to home and it also just feels great to add my first offer from them. I'm definitely going to visit them for a junior day soon and I definitely plan to visit and learn more about Illinois State soon."

So which schools has Iraci also heard from so far this winter?

"Besides Illinois State I've also been in contact with the coaches from Miami of Ohio, Iowa State, Michigan State, Notre Dame and also Cincinnati. I've been texting back and forth with a few of the coaches and I've received mail from all of those schools so far. I also visited Iowa State last fall for a game and it was a good visit and experience. I'm also going to Miami of Ohio this Sunday for a junior day visit."

So what has Iraci been working on this winter to improve his overall game?

"I've bene working on just improving my overall cover skills and just getting better in one on one coverage. I'm also working hard on just improving my overall technique and fundamentals. I would say some of the strengths of my game are my tackling and support in the run game. I'm also just a high energy guy for the defense. I'm planning to play for Boom Midwest 7on7 this winter and spring along with running track for my school and then training for football."

Iraci also reflected back on his 2018 season.

"We had a really good season even though we didn't finish it the way we wanted to finish it. We will graduate a lot of kids from this past season's team but we should be pretty good again next season. We have a lot of good underclassmen skill kids who didn't get a chance to play last season because we had so many seniors."
