TE Fleener talks Sun Devil visit

Joliet (Ill.) Catholic Academy three star ranked tight end prospect Coby Fleener (6-foot-6, 215 pounds) made his first official visit this past weekend to Arizona State University. Fleener, who added two Big 12 Conference scholarship offers late last week, talks about his first official visit to the home of the Sun Devils and more in this latest recruiting update.
"I had a really good time on my official visit to Arizona State," Fleener said. "The weather along was just amazing. it was basically 75 degrees and sunny from the moment I got off the plane until the moment I left on Sunday with no clouds in the sky. This was my first official visit, so I really wasn't sure what to expect to be honest. Overall I came away with a very good impression of Arizona State after my official visit. I was also surprised at how much they have for you to do on the visits. It was a pretty busy schedule all weekend, so that was a good surprise."

Fleener talked about his busy weekend visit to the home of the Sun Devils.
"I arrived on Friday night around 9PM, so I had a late dinner, then I had a chance to hang out with some of the players in the dorm and then I headed back to the hotel. I had two player hosts over the weekend. Friday my player host was linebacker Jeff Bereuter and on Saturday my player host was linebacker Mike Nixon. I got along really well with both of those guys all weekend long. Saturday I had breakfast then I had a chance to have a meeting with head coach Dirk Koetter and that went really well. I also had a chance to tour the campus and the facilities. Saturday night was the game against UCLA, so I headed over to the stadium for the game. I had a chance to check out the pre-game activities and I also was able to sit in on some position meetings. Arizona State lost to UCLA but I really enjoyed the game day atmosphere. Saturday night I went back to the dorms and just hung out with the players and I had a good time. Sunday I had a chance to have some of my questions answered regarding academics, plus I had more meetings with the coaches and more tours."
Fleener came away with a very good impression of Arizona State.
"Overall I had a very good visit. It was my first official visit so it was hard to compare it to anything. I just was really impressed with everything at Arizona State on my visit. I also really appreciated the great hospitality from everyone at ASU."
Fleener also has landed two more scholarship offers from the Big 12 conference.
"I received scholarship offers late last week from both Colorado and Kansas. I've been talking with head coach Dan Hawkins and the tight end coach Kent Riddle and they offered me late last week. I also received an offer from Kansas late last week. The Jayhawks are recruiting me as a wide receiver prospect. I've been talking with my recruiting coach Mike Mallory on a regular basis. It feels good to get some more offers from the Big 12 conference. I'm excited about both offers and I'm going to do some research on them soon."
Fleener will now look ahead to his next official visit this coming weekend to Nebraska.
"I'm going to Nebraska this coming weekend for my official visit. I'm excited to get a chance to see what Nebraska is all about."
