Lisle (Ill.) Benet Academy three star ranked junior WR/TE recruit Pierce Walsh (6-foot-4, 210 pounds) was able to make his first ever on campus visit to the University of Minnesota last week. Walsh recaps his first impressions from the Home of the Gophers and more in this latest recruiting news update.
"I went out to Minnesota last week for a spring practice," Walsh said. "I had a really good first visit and I'm going to go back to Minnesota in a few weeks for another visit. I want my Mom to see the school in person since she couldn't make it last week. I'm excited to get back for another visit soon."
Walsh filled us in on what stood out for him at the University of Minnesota.
"I just really liked it a lot at Minnesota. I was able to talk to all of the coaches at Minnesota and meet a lot of them in person for the first time. I was able to see everything that Minnesota has to offer along with watching a spring practice. What caught my attention on my visit was the academics and the overall support that Minnesota has to offer the players. They presented a really good overview of how they offer a great education along with offering things like internships, different job opportunities and a huge alumni base that also provide a lot of support. I was also impressed at how well structured and organized the practice was at Minnesota. The practice was really high energy and it was just good to see how well the coaches work with the players in a practice setting. I also just really like all of the coaches at Minnesota, they are all very welcoming and friendly. Minnesota also has absurdly nice facilities and a great stadium. I also feel I would be a good fit in the offense at Minnesota. I'm more of a pass game tight end for them right now but the more weight and strength I gain I'll able to develop into a more well rounded tight end for them."
Does Walsh have any upcoming spring college visit set?
"I'm thinking about maybe getting out to Duke this coming weekend, but for right now I don't have anything set up with them just yet."
In the meantime, look for Walsh to continue to work and prepare for his upcoming senior season this fall.
"I've been just working out and training along with our team lifts after school."
Pierce Walsh has multiple scholarship offers.
