Thompson recaps Buckeyes choice

Lombard (Ill.) Montini Catholic junior defensive linemen prospect Dylan Thompson (6-foot-5, 270 pounds) pledged on Saturday to the Ohio State Buckeyes and talks about his decision here.

"I'm still just really thrilled and excited about my decision," Thompson said. "The hardest thing I had to do was tell all of these other coaches my decision but I'm glad that they understood."

Thompson made his first unofficial visit to Ohio State on Saturday and knew once he walked into the Ohio State indoor practice facility that he found a school to call home.

"I just walked in and knew right away that I wanted to play for Ohio State and that I found a school that has everything I was looking and so much more. Ohio State just feels like home for me and I can easily see myself playing at Ohio State and also enjoying living in Columbus and going to school at Ohio State. Ohio State as a football program has a great family environment and I was able to find a perfect fit. I want to be a part of that family environment at Ohio State and I can't wait to play for the Buckeyes."

Thompson also took in the entire campus and surrounding area and was impressed.

"We had a chance to see literally everything at Ohio State and we also saw a lot of the surrounding area. The campus is great and I'm also impressed with the academics and the academic support that is available at Ohio State. I know that I'll be able to succeed on and off the field at Ohio State. I was able to talk to the players and I'm already getting along great with the guys. Tommy Schutt has been great and has been a big help for me. We talked a lot about Ohio State and he really filled me in on everything."

Thompson also talked about why he made an early college choice.

"I knew right away what I wanted and found it at Ohio State. I just didn't see the point of waiting around and seeing other schools and traveling all over when I found what I was looking for in a school. I'm very glad to have this decision done and over with and I can just relax and just focus on school and my senior season."

Dylan Thompson is verbally committed to Ohio State.
