Two more pledge to NIU

NIU head coach Rod Carey was able to add two in-state verbal commitments today as Romeoville senior RB Jordan Nettles (5-foot-9, 190 pounds) and Chicago Mount Carmel outside linebacker Michael Kennedy (6-foot-1, 190 pounds) pledged to the Huskies within minutes of each other.

"I visited another school recently and the coach told me not to be afraid of that feeling in my gut," Nettles said. "I prayed on it and I had a dream of playing for the Huskies. That's when I knew NIU was the place for me."

"The NIU coaches are great people," Kennedy added. "NIU has a great football program and I can see myself being a part of that so I committed."

Nettles and Kennedy are now the 7th and 8th known verbal commitments in the NIU Huskies Class of 2017, and both players are also the fifth and sixth in-state verbal commitments.

Nettles and Kennedy join Immaculate Conception S Jordan Rowell, St. Charles North OT Isaac Hawn, Phillips S Dexter Warren and DeKalb WR Cole Tucker as in-state NIU commitments.
