Visits ahead for Mooney

Huntley (IL) senior athlete recruit Eric Mooney (6-foot-1, 190 pounds) has been focused on his football recruiting process after his senior season ended. Mooney has planned to take three official visits and recaps his latest recruiting plans here.

"I have three official visits lined up for now," Mooney said. "I'm still hearing from other schools who want me to hold off and be patient, but baring any major late changed I'm focused on the schools I plan to visit."

Mooney filled us in on his official visit which begin this weekend.

"I'm planning to make an official visits to Yale this weekend and then I'm also going to visit South Dakota and Northern Iowa in January. I'm still in touch with Penn State and Iowa plus Indiana has also reached out to my coaches. Some of the schools who haven't offered me said they want to see how things shake out with the early signing day and that I could wind up drawing an offer."

Mooney discussed what stands out about Yale, South Dakota and Northern Iowa?

"When it comes to Yale it's obviously the academic strength. Yale is a really different route than both South Dakota and Northern Iowa and I'm excited to make my visit to Yale this weekend. Both South Dakota and Northern Iowa have recruited me hard and both are really excited about me. I also really like the coaches at all three schools and they all have great coaching staffs."

So what position are schools recruiting Mooney to play at the next level?

"Originally Northern Iowa wanted me as a wide receiver but after they saw me play against Cary-Grove they feel I'm still growing and that I can play quarterback fo them. Both Yale and South Dakota also are recruiting me as a quarterback as well."

Does Mooney have a time frame for a decision?

"I just want to make my visits and see how each one goes and then I'll make my decision."

Eric Mooney has multiple scholarship offer.
