Centralia (Ill.) junior quarterback/athlete prospect Javon Williams Jr. (6-foot-2, 229 pounds) is one of several names to watch in the ever growing Class of 2018 in the State of Illinois. Williams Jr., who is gearing up for a big South Seven conference showdown on Friday night hosting state ranked Althoff (4-0) talks about his season, his recruiting and more.
"We are off to a good start (4-0)," Williams Jr. said. "We have a big game on Friday against Althoff. They are also undefeated (4-0)."
Williams Jr., who also plays basketball and baseball at Centralia talked about his latest recruiting news.
"Purdue has been interested and they have also been staying in touch. Illinois has also been interested along with Illinois State. All three schools have invited me to come out to see a game in person. I'm planning to go to Purdue this Saturday against Nevada. I'm also going to Illinois soon for a game and I'm sure I'll also get out and see Illinois State."
Williams Jr. who has thrown for 12 touchdowns along with 5 rushing touchdowns so far in 2016 talked about his strengths on the field.
"I've worked hard on staying more in the pocket and not looking to run right away. Working with my head coach (former SHG QB Bobby Brenneisen) has helped me a lot on my quarterbacking skills. I'm just looking to pass the ball more and I also think I'm making better decisions and throwing the football much better."
Does Williams Jr. have a dream school?
"I've always been a fan of Florida State. I really like Jameis Winston at quarterback and I also really like the offense that Florida State runs."
