Williams Jr. having a good summer

Chicago (Ill.) Simeon junior running back recruit Anthony Williams Jr. (5-foot-11, 187 pounds) has been having a good summer so far. Williams Jr. who added his fourth offer from NIU last Wednesday checks in and talks about his recent camps and more in this recruiting update.

"It's been going pretty well so far," Williams Jr. said. "I was able to camp last week at NIU and also Illinois. NIU offered me and Illinois also seems to be very interested in me."

Williams Jr. recapped his recent Illinois camp performance.

"The Illinois camp went well. I thought I did well and tested well at Illinois and the coaches at Illinois really liked my camp. I wound up being one of the top performers at the camp according to the Illinois coaches. I was able to talk to some of the coaches at Illinois and they said that they really like my game and want me to stay in touch weekly. Illinois said they haven't offered any 2019 kids just yet."

Wiliams Jr., who now has scholarship offers from NIU, South Dakota State, Arkansas State and Central Michigan is also wrapping up his school year.

"We finish the school year on Tuesday. I'm not sure on camps I might go to one sometime in July. We've been in team camp since last week and that's been going really well."

Williams Jr. will also be headed to a once in a lifetime trip to China in July.

"I'm going on a two week trip to China on July 1st. It's part of a program with the Urban League in Chicago. I'm one of 24 student selected to go on the trip from all different high schools. I had to interview and apply for the trip and it's going to be a trip of a lifetime. I'll be gone the first two weeks in July and fortunately I won't miss any of our football team camp. It's pretty exciting to get the opportunity to go to China."
