WR/DB Webb impresses

Springfield (Ill.) Southeast senior wide receiver/defensive back recruit Gavin Webb (5-foot-8, 160 pounds) took part in Monday's SIU satellite camp at Springfield Sacred Heart Griffin. Webb, who earlier in the week added his first offer from Southeasts Missouri State filled us in on his latest recruiting news here.

"The SIU camp was a good experience," Webb said. "The SIU coaches did a good job and they worked with me on improving my game. The numbers were good at the SIU camp so everyone got reps and the competition level was also good."

Webb, who has ben drawing recruiting looks at both receiver and cornerback this spring discussed his first offer from Southeast Missouri State.

"I went to a one day camp at Lindenwood and Southeast Missouri State saw me at the camp and offered me a scholarship. It's really exciting to get my first offer and the coach from SEMO really said I had a great camp at Lindenwood. I don't know too much about them yet but I'll definitely look into them soon and visit."

Webb also ran down his upcoming remaining camp schedule.

"I've been to Iowa State, SIU and Lindenwood so far. I'm planing to camp at Northwestern on Friday, Louisville on Sunday and then I'm going to Western Kentucky next Tuesday."

Webb is also very open when it comes to an eventual position in college.

"It seems like each school has a different idea about me. Some like Iowa State likes me as a cornerback and others like me as a receiver. I'm just an athlete and I'll play anywhere."
